2019 Global Teacher Prize won by Kenyan Teacher

Kenyan science teacher Peter Tabichi is awarded with 2019 Global Teacher Prize at a function in Dubai. The award recognizes the exceptional teacher's commitment to students in a remote place of Kenya's Rift Valley.

He gives away 80% of his salary to support poorer students and is now honoured as world's best teacher with $1m prize. The award received over 10,000 nominations and Tabichi became the winner. He travelled on aeroplane for the first time to collect the prize in Dubai.

"Peter, your story is the story of Africa which is a young continent bursting with talents. Your students have shown that they can compete amongst the best in the world in science, technology and all fields of human endeavour." - congratulated Uhuru Kenyatta.

Tabichi accounted to the winning that Africa will produce scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs whose names will one day famous in whole world and girls will be a huge part of the story.
